As we begin to ease the lockdown across the UK, the ECITB continues to highlight remote learning options that allow vital skills training to continue during the COVID-19 crisis.
With social distancing restrictions impacting on every aspect of our lives, the ECITB has curated a selection of online learning and webinars to help companies and training providers make the switch to remote learning.
Chris Claydon, ECITB Chief Executive, said: “These are unprecedented times and the impact of social distancing on all our working lives will remain with us long after this critical phase of the pandemic.
“We know that this presents a huge challenge for industry that requires new skills and ways of working to be adopted immediately. I hope this selection of online courses and learning resources can with those adjustment to and make the most of this transformation to our working lives.”
- FutureLearn have an article on soft skills ‘What they are and how to develop them’. In the article FutureLearn touch on soft skills such as creativity and critical thinking amongst many others. They are currently offering a free course in ‘Using creative problem solving’ and ‘logical and creative thinking’ and they have a full list of soft skills training to browse at here.
- The National Skills Service on the Gov website are offering ‘The Skills Toolkit’ The Skills Toolkit is made up of free online courses, tools and resources to help you improve your digital and numeracy skills. The Department for Education has consulted some of the country’s leading educational experts and employers to make up a collection of high quality resources to suit a range of interests and skill levels.
- The IET are also offering online learning options focusing on improving your soft skills, to complement your technical skills, so that you can reach your full potential in the workplace. Some of these include ‘mentoring towards personal registration’, ‘making an impact with your CV’ or ‘back to basics with presenting’.
- IMechE have 1-hour free webinar in ‘How to build resilience long term and sustain it in times of change and complexity’. The IMechE are also offering an E-Leaning Collection in 14 different topics such as ‘Influencing and Negotiation Wellbeing’ and ‘Workplace’ and the IMechE are offering £50 off the eLearning Collection if you purchase before 30 June 2020. The Centre are currently running free remote working webinars called ‘Cuppa Series Live’ throughout the beginning of June. These 45-minute interactive webinars will provide you with the vital toolkit of skills, ideas and techniques to make a success of the challenges that lie ahead.
