The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is to help a further 30 people from industry achieve Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status from the Association for Project Management (APM).
Every year, in partnership with APM, the ECITB supports project professionals to gain chartership in project management.
Applications for the 2025/26 programme have opened today and close on 22 October ahead of the first webinar taking place on 30 October.
After the ECITB-funded scheme was oversubscribed with applications in 2023, the programme doubled the number of places available last year, resulting in 22 people having already gained ChPP status from the latest cohort.
Those to have completed the programme so far in 2025 include Adrian William Devonald, Alan Holbrook, Clare Tufton, Dave Clouting, Denis Veretov, Dominic Cresswell, Donna Marie Thompson, Euan Mowat, Kevin Harper, Lynn Fraser Evans, Mark Musgrave, Marta Clark, Nicolo Gabrielli, Omar Iqbal, Paul Urquhart, Paul Watson, Robert Lawrie, Ross McSkimming, Stephen Daly, William Steward, Nigel Melling and Darren Stables.

2025/26 ChPP programme
Delivered remotely by Changescope Ltd to allow applicants from anywhere in the UK, the programme is delivered over a series of workshops.
The dates for the 2025/26 ChPP programme are:
- 30 October 2025, 10am-12pm: Webinar 1 – Planning your portfolio
- 25 November 2025, 3.30-4.30pm: Webinar 2 – Developing your competences
- 15 January 2026, 3.30-4.30pm: Webinar 3 – Finalising your portfolio
- 6 March 2026, 4-5pm: APM submission deadline
- 19 March 2026, 11am-12pm: Webinar 4 – Interview planning and preparation
Applicants fill out a questionnaire which is designed to assess their competence against the APM Chartered Standard to determine their suitability for the programme.
Throughout the programme candidates must demonstrate their capabilities as a responsible leader with the skills and abilities required to manage complex projects and use appropriate tools, processes and techniques.
They show assessors their competencies in multiple areas through a portfolio of evidence and an interview. Successful candidates are included on the publicly available APM Register of Chartered Project Professionals.
Chris McGee, Projects Focal Point at Harbour Energy, was part of the cohort who started the ECITB-funded programme in September 2023.
He said: “I gained a broader understanding of the different industries project management covers and discovered a wider toolset and skillset. It shows there is not just one way of doing things. It gives you lots of methods and tools you can bring into your work. This was really beneficial and I have already used these new tools in my day-to-day role.
“It gives you a piece of paper that demonstrates the skillset you have. You can then take this widely recognised qualification with you. Achieving chartership helps your current employer gauge the level you are at within your career and lets prospective employers understand the skillset that this certificate shows you have gained.”
