Demand for the ECITB’s industry-standard CCNSG safety passport may have declined at this time of national emergency, but with some sites still open, it is imperative that workers without cards can undertake the safety critical training required.

In response, the ECITB has worked with its training provider partners to introduce an online version of the CCNSG 2-day National Course. This specially adapted programme allows remote learning and assessment through a self-study programme, with pre-recorded teaching materials or live online delivery of the course.

Also, in light of the Covid-19 crisis, the renewal window for existing CCNSG card holders has been extended from 3 months after expiry to 6 months. This means that cards that have recently expired or are due to expire in the coming weeks will be valid for an additional 6 months after the expiry date written on the card.*

Chris Claydon – ECITB CEO

Chris Claydon, ECITB Chief Executive, said: “As the leading skills body for the engineering construction industry, how we enable essential training to continue during the COVID-19 crisis is an unprecedented challenge for the ECITB.

“Our workforce looks after the essential national infrastructure that keeps the lights on, the water flowing and puts food on our tables. To enable new site workers to operate safely throughout this difficult period, the ECITB has put together an online, virtual teaching solution for CCNSG that allows safety assurance to take place while observing current social distancing guidelines.”

The ECITB will waive all registration fees for remote courses with the training provider able to charge up to £75.00 per delegate for the self-assessed pre-recorded option and £150 for live teaching in a virtual classroom setting. To ensure that the ECITB can assess a group of learners simultaneously the number of delegates allowed on a course will be limited to 10.
