Head of R&D
Chris Mann, Head of the Research & Product Development Function of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, joined the ECITB in 2008 as a learning and development project manager, following a 25 year career in the Royal Navy as an engineering artificer, where his roles included Head of Mechanical Engineering at the RAF’s Harrier Maintenance School.
Product Development Manager
Nathan joined the ECITB in 2015 after serving 14 years with the British Army. Within the R&D team, he is predominately involved with skills and technical based training development and management - this includes apprenticeships, qualifications, technical training and technical testing. Nathan is passionate about learning and development and securing skills for the future.
Catherine joined the ECITB in 2011. As a product development manager, she develops training standards and qualifications to meet employers’ needs. A key focus of this work is bringing together companies and training providers to create Industry-led working groups. Engaging closely with these groups means she can make sure that ECITB training meets the needs of companies, is of high quality and deliverable.
Rachael Sewell joined the ECITB in September 2003 as an account manager for the North West. In 2009 she joined the R&D team and has worked on ECITB qualification/National Occupational Standards reviews running many workshops focusing on developing materials to suit the industry along with feasibility studies.
Senior Product Development Manager
After 23 years in the RAF Adrian joined the ECITB R&D division in 2009 where he was involved in developing national occupational standards, qualifications, training programmes, bespoke research project as well as gaining valuable experience on the ground as the Regional Account Manager for the Yorkshire and the Humber region. He is now a senior product development manager in the R&D team.
Steve Franklin joined the ECITB R&D team in 2010. His previsous role was Regional Account Manager and now, having been appointed a senior product development manager in 2014, Steve leads work on ECITB’s non-technical products, such as leadership, supervision, project management and controls.
Paul joined the ECITB in December 2010. His expertise lies in the skills and technical fields and he has developed a large number of the ECITB training standards currently in use. Paul is also the focal point for the development of technical tests ensuring that they are of the correct level and quality. Paul is the International R&D liaison member and is in regular contact with the international team to ensure their requirements are met.
Since joining the R&D team in 2012, Heather has been involved in a number of activities: a consultancy role on a new apprenticeship pathway as part of the Government’s EOS funding pilot; the re-development of ECITB’s flagship Supervisor Training Module 4 – Safety, Health & Environment/IOSH Managing Safely in the Engineering Construction Industry and facilitated internal work leading to IiP Silver Accreditation.
