The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) has entered into a Services Agreement with TUV SUD Middle East which establishes a mutually beneficial relationship between two governmentally related bodies in the UK and Germany.
The Services Agreement signed on 16 December 2015 establishes a relationship to cooperate and work together for the promotion and ongoing development of the ECITB as the premier Skills Body for the Engineering Construction Industry in the GCC (Gulf Corporation Council) region of the Middle East.
The Agreement is seen as an important step in promoting internationally recognised qualifications, and supporting sustainable local skills and job creation in the region.
The GCC (United Arab Emirates, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar, Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Kuwait and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) are all energy-based economies that are focused on the Oil and Gas sector and its related industries. Each of these countries is building sustainable economies that include the traditional energy industries, the green/sustainable energy sector, hi-tech, commerce and tourism. This vision is being achieved through the investment and development of infrastructure, and the development and investment in the people of these countries.
The ECITB is working throughout the region on projects that support the investment and development of people.
Chris Claydon, ECITB chief executive officer welcomed the agreement:
"The ECITB is delighted to sign this Services Agreement with TUV SUD Middle East. The ECITB is a leader in training standards and qualifications and has developed a strong portfolio of products and services for many organisations and companies throughout the world. Our deep and longstanding experience means we are a brand that can be trusted and a partner that delivers. We look forward to commencing what we believe will be a fruitful and long term relationship."
Mr. Salah Safah, managing director of TUV SUD Middle East said:
“I studied and worked in the UK and knew of the ECITB through my experiences there. I have always had a long term vision for the relationship between TUV SUD Middle East and the ECITB since the time we started working together four years ago. This Agreement cements a relationship between TUV SUD Middle East and the ECITB that will allow us to continue along the road of growth. I am delighted to travel to London to sign this Agreement with the ECITB at the Institution of Civil Engineers, a fitting venue given my studies in London all those year ago!”
Dr Tony Featherstone, ECITB International Operations and Commercial director, based in Abu Dhabi said;
“We’ve worked with Mr. Salah Safah over the last four years developing a strong relationship that has started to bear fruit and moving us along our journey of becoming the Number 1 Skills Body for the Engineering Construction Industry globally. I am grateful to Mr. Salah and his team at TUV SUD Middle East and Mr. Jason Riley and the International Commercial Team of the ECITB for all their hard work over the last four years in getting us to this point where this Agreement will enable us to implement the step change we have all been working towards as far as the ECITB operations internationally are concerned.”
