On Monday 26 June 2017, the ACE (Assuring Competence in Engineering Construction) Industry Steering Group (ISG) met and agreed to a significant change to the ACE Card Scheme.
Following extensive consultation with the industry, it was agreed that certain specific non-ECITB qualifications would become eligible for an ACE Card. This move will substantially increase the number of people able to apply for an ACE Card.
Potential qualifications will be mapped against the engineering construction industry’s National Occupational Standards for suitability, and a list of qualifications deemed eligible will be developed by the end of 2017. The aim is to launch the new “scheme” on 1 April 2018.
The ACE Card renewal process will remain the same, in that the Card is renewed through the achievement of CCNSG Safety Passport or the ECITB IOSH Managing Safely programme.
Further details will be communicated as they become available together with the list of eligible qualifications.
