26 February 2016/Categories: Media Centre Events
Our open evening on the 4th February was a huge success we had over 250 people through the gates. A huge thank you to Don, Nicola and Adrian for helping Susy, Chris and myself (Sallyann).
The event started at 4pm and lasted until 7.30pm. It was slightly different this year, as we are embracing both apprenticeships and other types of new entrants to the industry. The event started with a tour of the facility where each training provider shared what they do and how they support the industry. AIS Training showed working at height and rigging and lifting skills needed for wind turbine work; GIFHE’s ECITB apprentices demonstrated what they have learned as apprentices training to meet the requirements of the industry; HETA showed how their apprentices support all engineering sectors with both traditional apprenticeships and wind turbine technician apprenticeships and Roxby Training had an interactive electrical problem to solve. We were given the AIS workshop where local and nationally recognised companies were available to talk to apprentices and other entrants, along with all the training providers and ourselves. These companies included Jacobs Field Services, ENGIE Fabricom, Blackrow and Allied Protek, with support from non in-scope companies who use our frameworks.
