Competence Assurance & Awarding Body
Competence is high on the list of priorities for the engineering construction industry, its companies and workforce. A competent workforce is the key to productivity and competitiveness.The ECITB advises companies on the development and use of competency based frameworks and models used for developing the workforce, both on and off site. Many are based on the National Occupational Standards and National and Scottish Vocational Qualifications developed for the sector.
In addition there is a national on-shore, on-site based initiative known as Assuring Competence in Engineering Construction (ACE).
However, the single biggest service offered to the industry by the ECITB in this area is the running of a highly successful, nationally approved Awarding Body.
The Awarding Body delivers National and Scottish Vocational Qualifications through a network of over 50 centres in England, Scotland and Wales. It has a Quality Asssurance framework consisting of a Lead Verifier and of eight External Verifiers.
There are qualifications available at craft and technician level, as well as for Project Control and Management including Supervisory Management.
