Regional Discretionary Development Grant

Each of the regions of the ECITB has allocated an amount of money to spend on suitable development projects within the region that the Regional Chair and senior ECITB member of staff consider appropriate.

The primary goals of the grant are to drive up engagement in training by employers and influence the training supply chain to be more responsive to the sector’s skills needs.

The following summary of the guidelines is drawn up to assist companies in deciding if a training project or programme is suitable for consideration.

Any grant is:
  • To be used for external training, not in-house courses
  • Not available for mandatory training, e.g. Abrasive Wheels, BOSIET, Safety Passport etc
  • Not payable to companies that have received 100% off-site levy abatement
  • Not for training where there is an alternative suitable programme offered by the ECITB
  • Available for training employees of companies in scope to the ECITB
  • Preferably for multi-company courses, demonstrating value for money
  • Used to pay for training, not for travel and accommodation or any element of salary subsidy
  • Payable in respect of projects completed by 31/12/08
