TECSkills Development

TECSkills is a new route to skills and qualifications in the Engineering Construction Industry, the Research & Development team have been involved in developing resources in support of these programmes for a little over a year.

Training resources have now been developed and produced in the form of CD’s for delivery by training providers and workplace coaches, these meet the knowledge statements of the National Occupational Standards and include: presentations, learner handouts, lesson plans, workplace exercises and other useful resources. CD’s have been produced for the craft disciplines of: Welding, Pipefitting, Electrical Maintenance, Electrical Installation, Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Maintenance, NDT, Steel Erecting, Moving loads, Instrumentation and Control, Plating and Supporting Engineering Activities, there are also resources to support Special Critical Bolting. Further resources are being developed for Instrument Pipefitting and Design & Drafting to be released in 2009.

Current work also involves the development of an online knowledge course; an interactive online training programme for workplace coaches, this will enable potential workplace coaches to become accredited by distance learning.
