ECITB National Skills & Qualifications Strategy
By 2014, using the existing levy contribution arrangements to fund training, the ECITB plans to deliver 14, 000 skilled people into the engineering construction industry against the projected need of 31,000. This will create a 17,000 shortfall in the anticipated demand.
Our goal now is to focus the discussion on how to take the opportunity to overcome this shortfall and secure the future skills for engineering construction. We have the ambition and drive to create a skills plan for the industry that will bring together employers, government and other stakeholders in a partnership to deliver the right skills, at the right time and in the best ways possible.
Below is a flow chart of the events that will formulate the ECITB National Skills and Qualifications Strategy. This includes further work to refine the action plan that will be reviewed by government, employers, clients and trade unions to obtain confirmation of their commitment and support. Implementation is expected to begin in 2009.
