A team from Air Products has won the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Project Management ACTIVE Cup. Run on behalf of the ECITB by Cranfield University School of Management, the ECITB Summer Project Management ACTIVE Cup Competition is a highly successful competition-based learning event in project management.

Twenty-five people representing five company teams participated in the competition which took place between 2 - 4 July. Air Products won the ECITB Summer Project Management ACTIVE Cup, with a team from M W Kellogg receiving the Gold Award for second place and Bechtel taking the Silver Award.
The ECITB competition, which takes place twice a year is aimed at project management practitioners, team members and support / service staff, including human resources and accounts personnel who interface with, and provide services to, project teams. The ECITB has been running the competition in conjunction with Cranfield University School of Management for 14 years to raise the profile of the ACTIVE principles within the Engineering Construction industry. ACTIVE stands for Achieving Competitiveness Through Innovation and Value Enhancement and there are 8 ACTIVE principles designed to improve the overall efficiency and competitiveness of the industry.
ECITB Chairman Terry Lazenby presented the awards. He said; “Once again we have been impressed with the quality of the entrants as well as the overall enthusiasm to take part in this competition. With the support of staff from Cranfield University School of Management the ECITB Summer Project Management ACTIVE Cup Competition has evolved from an annual event to one held every six months. It provides valuable recognition of the project management skills required in the engineering construction industry and helps to enhance those skills through enjoyable but challenging competition-based learning.”
