Apprenticeships
As an apprentice Pipefitter you will be required to undergo a period of college/training provider-based training usually lasting 1 year.
During this year you will be trained in aspects of the discipline such as health and safety, reading and interpreting drawings, symbols and specifications; cutting and shaping pipe using hand and machine tools such as portable grinders, power saws and oxy-gas cutting equipment; laying out pipework, forming pipe using pipe bending machines; assembling pipework using nuts and bolts and welding equipment and testing the assembled systems.
In the 2nd and the 3rd and final year of your apprenticeship, you’ll gain further experience in the processes and techniques, although this time it will be in the setting of an engineering construction site.
